This is an action packed week. Today thousands showed up in downtown Lansing at the Capitol Building for the “It’s Not Fair! Rally” protesting proposed state corporate tax cuts and tax hikes for seniors, poor, and working people — see the PEC’s photo coverage here. This is on the heels of the US Uncut-Michigan protest on Saturday. More actions are scheduled this week and we encourage your participation. See details below.

It will be like old times for us at the Peace Education Center as we join our old friend Michael Moore at the Capitol steps to stand in solidarity with labor, seniors, working people, college students, and all Michigan citizens who will be paying disproportionately higher level of sacrifice under the new Governor’s budget and taxing scheme. In an open letter to fellow Michigan citizens on his web page, Moore is calling everyone to meet at the Capitol Building at noon for an enormous rally. The rally will last throughout the afternoon until 6 p.m.
Wednesday, March 16, 7 p.m. EST, 107 S. Kedzie Hall,
MSU Campus, East Lansing, Michigan
PEC’s Screening of the Documentary “Rachel”
On March 16, 2003, 23-year-old American activist Rachel Corrie was killed in Palestine by the Israeli Occupation Forces. In honoring her memory, bravery, and activism, the Peace Education Center is hosting a public showing of French director Simone Bitton’s documentary about Corrie’s life. It will be free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome. The movies runs 100 minutes and there will be a community discussion afterwards.

Peace Vigil – the 8th Year of War and Occupation in Iraq![]()
The weekly noontime peace vigil in front of the Capitol Building in downtown Lansing — the 489th straight Friday since 9/11 — will mark the 8th anniversary of the American war and occupation in Iraq. We will remember the deaths and injuries of Iraqis and American troops, and call for an end to the use of war and occupation in foreign lands. Plan to join us at the Capitol.
Pick your action! Hope to see you any or all of these events.
