The Youth Outreach! Program works to ensure that youth have an understanding of peace culture and history and access to balanced information about military service
Our goals are to engage and support youth in:
- Understanding and building a culture of peace
- Examining their moral and ethical convictions regarding war and killing
- Obtaining the facts about military service, military recruiting and critically evaluating what the military offers and delivers
- Considering all career and educational options before joining the military
Do we have a bias? You bet! We envision a world transformed by nonviolence. We promote a point of view neglected by conventional sources and provide information that military recruiters find in their interest to omit.
Our projects include:
- Training for Draft Counselors
- Organizing workshops
- Working with schools to distribute alternate information about military enlistment
- Educating students & parents about their rights regarding military recruiters’ access to student information
PLEASE JOIN US! We are looking for students, parents, teachers and other community members to work with us in your school and in your community. We need people with a little time, good ideas, and connections to area schools. We are also available to give support to student peace groups and also to speak in classrooms.
